Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

Imagination Library of Oswego County (ILOC) is the local affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in New York State, administered by the Literacy Coalition of Oswego County in partnership with United Way of Greater Oswego County.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a gifting program that mails free, high-quality, and age-appropriate books to children from birth until their fifth birthday, available to families at no cost.

We registered our first children into the program in November 2018, and every school district in Oswego County supports and participates in the program. Over 2,000 children in Oswego County have graduated, and over 2,700 children are currently enrolled to receive a free book each month. As of April 2023, ILOC has provided over 100,000 books to children across the county, reaching an immense milestone for our humble initiative.

The original program began in 1995 by Dolly Parton in her local county in East Tennessee, USA. The program is now available throughout the US, Australia, Canada, Ireland, and the UK. Learn more here.
